What's the most popular grocery store in your area?

Supposedly the most popular grocery stores in the US by state (not sure what happened to the states with none)

Albertson's. Which I think is only Safeway around here. I haven't seen an actual Albertson's in about a decade.
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@Nadie Ok because there are Safeways in Western Canada as well.
Viper · M
@Nadie Portland? I just ask because I want to say...

Keep Portland weird 😋 (their slogan)
@Viper dear god no. I would hate living there. 😂
WaryWitchWandering · 36-40, F
I knew it’d be stop and shop in New England… even though they are pricey as FUCK!

Market Basket is cheapest but most crowded (at all times), and Super Walmart is probably most convenient for family shopping (groceries/toiletries/stuff for the home)
Viper · M
@WaryWitchWandering yeah of the east coast ones, stop and shop is basically the one I didn't know of, or don't remember hearing about....

Glad to get some details on it, should I ever see it, expensive, got it.
Viper · M
@WaryWitchWandering Ahold Delhaize almost owns the entire east coast, as they own

Stop & Shop
Giant Food
Giant/Martin's
Food Lion
Hannaford

@WaryWitchWandering Yes, Market Basket is the best, for prices and a good variety. Roche Bros. Is also pretty pricey like Stop &Shop.
Keeper · M
@CrazyMusicLover I would go there before the inflation got bad - it's a mad house now
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@Keeper I noticed it's a mad house everywhere. 😅
BIM. They have around 4000 stores in Turkey and around 200 in Egypt and some other countries but it's originally Turkish. There's also a Russian one called Migros, it's really a lot in Turkey I didn't even know it's Russian till recently.
calicuz · 56-60, M
Missouri here: Stand alone grocery store not including Wal-Mart, I would have thought it was Price Chopper, they're a little cheaper than HyVee
Viper · M
@calicuz HuVee is another one I haven't heard of...

Also, I'm noticing a trend, seems like people are saying these are the more expensive options, in their area...

Also, Walmart didn't win a single state? That doesn't seem right...

So yeah, I question these results.
calicuz · 56-60, M
@Viper

Wal-Mart may not have been counted, because technically it is not a "grocery store."
Menetics · 26-30, F
“Piggly Wiggly” 😂
TexChik · F
@Menetics we have those in Texas.
Viper · M
@TexChik HEB is one I don't think I've heard of before
TexChik · F
@Viper it’s good , was mostly in south Texas , now they are expanding. They own central market which is a high end store
Keeper · M
I didn't realize Krogers were still around.
Viper · M
@Keeper yeah, I saw less of them on the east coast... and thought something might of happened, but looks like they're still strong in certain area.
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@Viper Lol yes it does; I work for it's competition
JimboSaturn · 51-55, M
@Viper lob-law
Viper · M
@JimboSaturn Law-Blaw just sounds like a normal name in certain areas, so I'm disappointed that's it...

Well you can beat them! Lol

If I get mega rich (not happening) I sorta want to start a grocery chain named Lob-Law now and specializing in seafood lol and maybe Keto friendly items
exexec · 61-69, C
exexec · 61-69, C
@Viper HEB is a Texas chain. HEB stands for the founder, Howard E. Butt.
Viper · M
@exexec butt lol 😂
exexec · 61-69, C
@Viper You can see why they use initials instead of his name.
Lostpoet · M
Smith's in Utah
Viper · M
@Lostpoet Smith's is an extremely original name 😋

Was the first name of the founder of that grocery store named Joseph? ;)
Lostpoet · M
@Viper I don't think there's a relationship. lol

Harmons is another popular store most Albertsons have gone out of business.
