Would you buy this place…?

https://www.realtor.ca/real-estate/25493591/5204-50-st-vilna-vilna

I think it would be terrific fun to restore/renovate this place and live in it

I’m picturing some stained glass and beautiful wood floors….

No. It's a former church, or chapel. There are, quite likely, burials nearby.
NudasPriest · 46-50, M
@4meAndyou I guess that rules out the swimming pool.
ArtieKat · M
Cute! I had dreams about somewhere like that, years ago.

There's got to be a reason of why it's been up for sale for so long, unfortunately.
RenFur · 70-79, M
Going by your upbeat attitude and overall positive vibe I think you're really considering taking this on as a project. Maybe get a film crew together? Some local financial support, too?
RenFur · 70-79, M
@ImpeccablyImperfect Well, the price is right.
ImpeccablyImperfect · 51-55, F
@RenFur no I haven’t…I would LOVE Italy, but I’m not sure I could move that far from my kids and grandkids 😊
RenFur · 70-79, M
@ImpeccablyImperfect At least look into it on the net... talk about character and timeless design.
It's not the sort of place I would consider, but that's just me.
Quimliqer · 70-79, M
It would be an interesting development property!
Quimliqer · 70-79, M
@Quimliqer At the least there would be very little demo required inside!!
FreeSpirit1 · 51-55, F
Wow, I couldn't by a garage for that price where I live
Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
That would make a great house! The price is a steal!
I am okay a putting floors in a house. Lol
Goodluckwiththat · 56-60, M
Cool! Good luck paying for windows!
ImpeccablyImperfect · 51-55, F
@Goodluckwiththat I think I’d likely replace most with regular windows and only keep a few well-placed cathedral style windows for character. (and my uncle is a window/door man so I’m covered there…I’ll get a good deal)
WindTherapy · 56-60, M
Reminds me a lot of the church I used to go to as a kid with my grandparents, except ours had a smallbalcony in the rear where the organ was located. The vaulted ceilings and openness could make a very interesting home to someone creative.
ImpeccablyImperfect · 51-55, F
@WindTherapy that's what I'm envisioning too!
Sevendays · M
I like it. It would make a great house.
Nanoose · 61-69, M
The price is right but it is in Alberta - pretty cold there compared to were I live so I don’t think I would buy it. Cheers and happy weekend!
Fullmetal · 46-50, M
Cool digs! Might be a bit drafty on days like today!! I got a oujia board somewhere...just sayin!! Lol
fun4us2b · M
It could be hard to heat as a home - but does look like a great place for a restaurant if the codes allow it...
Justenjoyit · 56-60, M
No way, it gets far too cold in the winter there for me lol
Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
@Justenjoyit you would love it!
Justenjoyit · 56-60, M
@Jenny1234 I wood need a good wood burner lol
DownTheStreet · 51-55, M
Yeah would be good

Unfortunately this one sold before you could snag it

ImpeccablyImperfect · 51-55, F
@DownTheStreet now THAT’S a terrific property!
DownTheStreet · 51-55, M
@ImpeccablyImperfect have a look at the Instagram “old house life”, there’s often some very cool stuff there
NudasPriest · 46-50, M
That would be great fun.
lumberjackslam · 41-45, M
Vilna must be to Alberta what Redding is to California
lumberjackslam · 41-45, M
@ImpeccablyImperfect looks pretty quaint just a few streets and much smaller than Redding
ImpeccablyImperfect · 51-55, F
@lumberjackslam my current location is a village as well…only 750 people live here :)
lumberjackslam · 41-45, M
@ImpeccablyImperfect sounds good
MethDozer · M
Oh fuck to the yeah
