How important is your outfit/looks?

I have to return to work and was thinking: " I don't have any clothes". Truth is, I have a closet full of busy, colorful, patterned clothes. Lots of which, I simply do not wear.

So for this reason, I will get rid of ones that I have worn many times, and ones that I don't/won't wear and just buy solid tops in like every color. I've been seeing textured solid tops that I think look really good.

Pair that will some nice little flats and cute earrings (I have plenty I love but don't wear) and I'm good.

I was once told I was a "clothes horse", by a not very nice man. If you love clothes, (and I do), it's easy to collect a closet full of deadwood. The hard and fast rule: if you haven't worn it for two years, get rid of it.

I had to do something similar when I went back to work after my divorce. I chose black and navy blue as my main colors for pants and jeans, and forced myself to choose attractive work tops that had one or both of those colors, or a solid colored top.

I like your idea about the textured solid colored tops.

@4meAndyou ooh. Thats not nice. I hate when i buy dressier tops that i love. Then never wear them. I'm burnt out with my job, so i dont wanna wear them there. My church isn't very formal. So i dont really dress up formal like. So i have clothes that i don't wear.
The 2 yr rule is good. So is the marie kondo " does it give you joy"?

@iamnikki Absolutely! I still have a sweater in my closet I can't give up because it once gave me joy.....🤣
