Its just a fancy word to make you think its special so they can raise the price and you buy it. Like gourmet or mechanical. Or made with "space age technology"

@GuyWithOpinions It becomes lingerie at the point where you enter France, or anyplace where they don't despise the ability to understand more than one language.

Hint - It's not long-ger-ay (and there's no such thing as a chaise 'lounge') 😂

Outside of French, the use of the word is usually just a failed attempt to sound sophisticated.
