I’m watching Sweet Home Alabama

for probably the 80th time. I love this movie and makes me think. Did we meet our soul mates when we were young? Now if you’re older and single it’s too late, the ship has sailed?

I found what I thought was my soul mate once, I loved her with everything possible but she was too pretty, too petty, and didn't feel the same way about me. We tried living together as friends as we dated others, but that was torture and we eventually split up.
It took a long time to get her out of my head, and you can see there are still lingering fragments.

Find someone you are comfortable with, someone that can adjust to you and your way of living, and you do the same for them, then sit on the bus together and ride it to the end of the line.
I don’t think it’s ever too late to know someone.
Even if it is too late to keep them in your life.
And I think there are many versions of “the one, soulmate.”
As time moves on, we change.
Our needs change.
And maybe… what we need from love changes too.
Some people are meant to stay.
Some I think are meant to teach us a little about ourselves.
Some just pass through and still leave a distinctivr mark.

@Bexsy you’re right, I just think of a couple of them sometimes wonder if they were it, one in particular I met when we were 7. His parents moved him back to Ireland when we were 13, when we were 17 he told his family that he was going to marry me and moved back to Canada. We had an amazing reunion but then we lost touch. We lived in different cities and he didn’t have a phone. My brother ran into him at a party a year later and he asked for my number but my brother refused because he was clearly using drugs and my brother was very protective. I still looked in the phonebook every year to see if I could find his number. Fast forward to 2007, I search for him and find his 2 older brothers and sister in law on Facebook. I found out that not only had we ended up in the same city an hour from where we grew up and he was the GM at the grocery store I shopped at! But that 8 months before I moved out here he took his life. 😢
Sorry that was way longer than I meant it to be.
@FreeorLonely oh, sis. I'm sorry. Sounds like you two had a deep connection

I met mine when I wasn’t ready at age 32. I’m married now to someone else. He's a good husband but we aren’t soulmates.

I like that movie!

I believe my ship has sailed. I'm not the hopeful woman with lots to offer anymore. I find relationships draining and dangerous and I'm just not into it anymore. I have everything I need 🖤
My romantic one, I married.
My lifelong friend, I've known since I was born.

It's never too late for anyone.

@V00doo I love that. ❤

I reconnected with my first teen love a couple of years ago and I wish I hadn't. Lol
I was left wondering, "Wtf did I ever see in that guy??"
@DearAmbellina2113 an ex reconnected with me also. We were on and off for about 15 years since I was about 15 bc he was my first and deepest love. Then one day after many trials and disappointments it just hit me that he was never meant to be mine and he wasn’t a good personal anyway even though I thought he was at one point. I accepted it and just moved on. When he contacted me recently I just shook my head. To be fair he fun to chat to but there’s not an ounce of romantic interest on my end anymore whereas he has some decent regret. I’m ok with it.

@DearAmbellina2113 I have a few of those myself, more than a few over the years actually. 😖

It’s an interesting thought by the “what could have been…” dreaming lacks the real world test of time. I wonder how things could have turned out differently but it’s all just wonder
FreeorLonely · 51-55, F
@DownTheStreet it’s definitely more than that, but thanks
