Standing there in puzzlement until I realize I turned on the wrong burner.

Im usually cleaning or prepping other things. Somedays I stand and stare at it while I have nothing else to do wondering how I could be better using my time. I shake my fists in anger that I have to make food, but just in my head. Sometimes I make up stories and talk to people who are not there.
Really depends on the day.

Roll my eyes and wonder why the hot water I started with isn't helping the process go faster. 🙄

Other things that need doing in the kitchen. I'm somehow not short of those.

Picking and unwrapping a tea bag or preparing rice or pasta.

I'm usually doing other food prep or something else.

It depends. I know water boils in 3 minutes in a large mug in my microwave, and in 10 minutes on the stove, and depending on the amount of water, the time varies.

If I have to wait 10 minutes or more, I set the timer on the microwave, and go out into the living room and hop on my laptop. ☺️

I just stand there and stare at it. 🤷🏼‍♂️

When I'm boiling water, it's usually when I'm cooking a pasta dish, so I'm usually spending my time prepping and/or cooking something else.

Picking the lint out of my belly button or scratching.

I spend time waiting for the microwave to finish zapping whatever frozen treat I'm having for dinner...

Depends on why I'm boiling it. Maybe I get out the tea, or a cup. Maybe I fix a snack.

Read a couple of books.

Three if I’m waiting at the doctors.

I look at a stopped clock while eating one potato chip.

Generally, mise en place. I try to have all the ingredients chopped and ready while the stove is heating.

I only use Camp Lejeune water. It boils instantly.
