Goodness is Always a Win-Win.
Here's something I wrote in my diary today...
I know from personal experience that a crouching-demon is waiting to strip you off your light that you've earned by doing good. Please don't let that happen, and make a promise to do good whenever and wherever you can. It is only good for you. Sure for the person on the receiving end too, but makes you feel better as well.
It's simple: Every morning when you wake up, you start at 0 on a rocket with green-fuel indicating goodness. You decide what is good and bad. The aim is to get to 100 on this green-fuel-rocket. And when you get to 80, the rest is 20% red with a sort of umm an elastic door? Your aim now is to reach 100 by doing as much good as you can with full force, because well, this is an elastic door in front of you. This 20% darkness is almost like a spring. The amount of force that you apply with the good that you do (according to yourself), is the further and closer you will reach towards 100 (victory).
But this is not quite easy. The 20% red, like I said, is a force of darkness, and is capable of spreading darkness into your soul by pushing you further back when you stop doing good or give up. The only way to fight this darkness, is do your best with goodness and when/if it attacks you, face it head on and give it all you got.
And thus, my fav quote from the Qur'an is: 'Repel evil with what is better. Then the enmity between him and you will become as if it were your close friend. And no one will be given such goodness except those who are patient. None but people of the greatest good fortune.'
