Been thinking about something that happened a while ago

I was having a mental health episode, feeling like everyone hated me. These come in bursts sometimes and can feel really intense. I expressed this to a friend who responded that I needed professional help and hasn't spoken to me since. I guess that friendship is over then, since they don't seem to want anything to do with me any more.

The lesson is simple - never vent to anyone.

Well I honestly don't think it's wrong for someone to suggest professional help for anything when they are unable to help. Whether it's mental health, or home renovations or scientific research or advice on parenting or anything. But it is a bit shitty that they haven't spoken to you since or tried to be more supportive.

The lesson isn't that you should never vent to people, it's just a moment in time in which you found someone was not comfortable being supportive in the way we want sometimes. Some people bail. It says more about them then you. Reaching out isn't wrong.

People suck sometimes and are unreliable
It's why people always work on building up ourselves, and finding different ways to express ourselves and vent and problem solve life's obstacles and work on finding people we do get on with and want to be there.

It's why sites like sw exist.
