Introduce yourself to new people. Ask questions. Express your desire to learn and contribute. Even volunteer work needs a coordinator and that coordinator is hired by someone... dig in and start climbing. Don't wait to be asked.

@SW-User I suspect your Q was more of a conversation starter, and not for yourself. But others read this stuff, sometimes months later. Maybe it will help one of them.

@SWisGoingWoke Sometimes my questions are a space to 'dump whatever lays heavy on us' and I phrase them openly so people can choose to perceive their own tone of how they respond.

Oh lol of course. I am sure we can all educate our younger selves with our experiences.
