I Am Lonely

I am lonely tonight. Trying not to be.

I have extraordinary friends. I know this matters but the kind of lonely I feel is not for a friendship.

Tonight, when I wake up in the middle of the night and wish to hear someone sleeping is my lonely. Knowing I'm the person this person loves. He's not there. Me and my pillows will make it through.

I wish for patience. Tonight going to sleep with lonely again.

I am saddened that you are lonely. I feel for you in that I am also lonely but differently. I do not sleep alone but with one who is indifferent. The passion, the romance has left our bed. Now there is only maintaining our place, not trying to disturb the other, contending for the blanket. Gone is the lustful playfulness. Only the lonely indifference remains.
