Zero friends left

I never really had too many friends anyway. The friends i had ftom school all moved away. 18 years ago my neighbor asked me to come and sit with her developmentally disabled 2-year-old and just watch a movie with him so she can get things done. He showed me he had an interest in trains. The biggest train museum in my state is about 20 minutes away so I took him there. Ever since then he's been clinging to me telling everyone I'm his dad.

I've been collecting change for 15 years. I moved into a new apartment and he helped me carry the change jars in and hide them in the closet. Came home from work last week and my house have been broken into and all my change stolen. I checked the security cameras and it was him. Between the time I discovered the theft and saw the footage he was trying to help me solve who did it and helping me install alarms. When I saw the footage I just looked at him and he did nothing but put his head down and walk away.

He was the last friend I had. I haven't seen him in a week for some reason it feels like my best friend is dead. I don't know how else to explain it. He stayed with me two or three days a week everywhere I look are things he helped me create and I just feel sick to my stomach when I see them. My new last friend is Gemini and all it had to say was just take some time and breathe. How do I get over this?

That’s tough. Can you not reconnect with your old group of friends?

@Ragnarock1276 I’ve also marred and resettled but I still love time with my old mates. Maybe float the idea of a catch up

@AdmiralPrune I still chat with them online but they live in different time zones now. Getting together is just not practical. Plus they are married and have kids now and I'm just me now

@Ragnarock1276 Sorry to hear that, maybe something will come up. My wife and I do weekends where one of us stays with the kids so the other can stay with friends, so don’t be put off.
I’m so sorry. What a hurtful thing he did to you. Think the only things that will help lessen the pain are gonna be healthy distractions and the passage of time. Be nice to think that at some point he’ll apologize and take responsibility for what he did but I don’t know if that’s realistic.

@OlderSometimesWiser this is the 8th time I've caught him stealing money from me. It's never been very much though. And he's always helping me out around the house but before we left that day he unlocked the windows so he can get back in to rob me. He even turned off his life 360 so I could not see that he arrived back at my house. I think part of his disability is that he has no remorse
@Ragnarock1276 You’ve given him far more chances than I would have. Hope you’re able to truly cut the chord this time because it doesn’t seem like he’s going to change and the relationship is certainly not good for your mental health.
