I've never been able to figure this one out - when to keep my mouth shut and when to contribute. I even get in trouble for saying, "I understand." Sometimes I have to ask, "Are you just venting and want me to listen, or do you want my input - I'm happy to do either." This also gets me in trouble because I had to ask and couldn't sense which it was. If I'm expected to contribute my thoughts and don't, I get in trouble for not listening (even though I am). Not sure how to handle this.

@Markinator At least some set of women seem to think that a real relationship somehow induces mindreading powers.
It does not.
It is also true that some set of women embrace the jr high girl theory of "signals" as being a clear form of communication.
This is also not true.
Women don't realize that men typically desire clarity.
They also don't tend to understand that this applies to OUR statements and queries, as well. E.g., if we ask a question whose answer space is "Yes" or "No", we aren't asking for a long story which finally ends in the "Yes" or "No" which was sought when the world was still young. (Not all questions are open questions.)
Miscommunication is guaranteed in this environment.
And some women seem to relish that.

“They don’t want peace!” 🤣
So basically, don’t provide peace, but be a piece. 🤭

Lmao "men are problem solvers, throw problems at him!" 😹

@Darksideinthenight2 @Cassieeeee I was taught it's because men are problem solvers communication problems arise. Men tend to listen to women talking about their problems and thinking and interjecting possible solutions when they should just shut up and listen. This I learned from several elder women years ago indicating women want to be heard by their man with empathy not solutions unless she specifically asks for them.

@Gibbon Funnily enough I always expect a friend or partner to guide me by offering a solution when I bring up a problem. It's not like I can't think of a solution myself, but I like knowing that others thought it was a good idea too. I actually hate it when people just listen and don't say anything. 😅

@Nightwings Not saying anything to that extent isn't what is meant. It's referring to men not listening to their partner through and interrupting with solutions like he isn't hearing what her emotions are saying.
