Pretty sure I never signed up for this...

Had to work a 1-1 with a patient today.. She punched me in the stomach when I had to get in between her and another patient, kicked me, scratched me, twisted my arm, pinched me, hit me with her phone and tried to slap me several times🙃 Funny thing is that I'm so used to it now it doesn't scare me or anger me anymore, I just told her to calm herself, which helped about as well as telling any angry woman to calm down... 🥹 😂 Finally after 5 hours of that she calmed down, and we had a nice talk before I helped her get ready for bed🥹

I'm freaking exhausted and deserve a raise-.-

I remember reading the worst thing you can say to an angry person is to calm down... Better to acknowledge their anger and get them talking about why they're angry...

@Convivial Yes it is. But in the state she was in that don't help either, so just need to tell her to stop, and then try to move away before getting hurt 😅

@Convivial True. She has dementia, and pretty sure she's experiencing delirium
