The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.
- Mahatma Gandhi

I guess I'm not as strong as I thought. 🤔

yes in my life once upon a time a took brutal advantages of my situation and treated me more than mean and humiliating every possible way a person can even treat an animal , I feel helpless due to situation as I had to save my parents that time , every moment I was with him I determine myself to took the worst revenge against him , but situation changed later and when I meet him again after a gape of 6 months later I truly forgiven him by his situation

@taneegoan nodding my head. You have a point.
Lostpoet · M
I'd forgive if I knew how, but that shit still hurts.
Nevaeh0081 · 36-40, F
@Lostpoet nmh. Nobody walks in your shoes but you. I feel you.

forgiveness is not for the forgived, but the forgiver.

It's a weight off the shoulders of the forgiver, but the forgived is completely unaware...
Pfuzylogic · M
@Nevaeh0081 He was lost on the concept of forgiveness. He did state the obvious though.

@Pfuzylogic I didn't misunderstand anything you said. I'm stating that your point is ridiculous... like some kind of 12 step program for life.

You are adding to what I am saying.
Your process of forgiveness doesn’t involve the forgiven therefor if you are just annoyed by someone that doesn’t even ask for forgiveness you consider it forgiveness.
I am stating that in forgiveness that the person that has offended the other asks for forgiveness and the forgiver chooses to let the debt go.
assemblingaknob · 26-30, F
No. Not everyone deserves forgiveness. Forgiveness doesn't make anyone strong or weak. It's a personal choice.
SnailTeeth · 36-40
I forgive everyone. I don't begrudge their trespasses. I hope they don't begrudge mine.

I will gladly die by my sword, and I will not live in the shadow of fear and hate.

My rebuke will be clear, understandable, and honest. Even if I can't expect that from others.

But just because I forgive someone, doesn't mean I'm stupid enough to give them access to myself. I never give anyone more than I'm willing to lose.
Nevaeh0081 · 36-40, F
@SnailTeeth Well said.
Lilymoon · F
Forgiving someone helps you move on with your life.
Forgetting is another story.
Nevaeh0081 · 36-40, F
@Lilymoon I can see feel your point.
originnone · 61-69, M
@Spoiledbrat Well, that's profound! LOL....How is your book going? Any luck getting back at it?
I'm still trying to finish it. @originnone
sweetdream · 22-25, F
Yes, if I say I forgive, then from that moment I forget about it!
I don't like complicated people with whom you never know what you are doing. The fact that they measure your every word, every move, it all stems from their insecurity!
Tiresome and boring!
IamCuriousBabe · 51-55, F
There would always be a part that still hurts, even though I no longer expect that person to ask for my forgiveness.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
Yes I have. But there needs to be a rebuilding of trust or I won’t ever trust them again. If they aren’t willing to do that then I won’t be involved with them. Might sound like holding grudges but it goes much deeper when trust is involved.
Nevaeh0081 · 36-40, F
@cherokeepatti I feel you
Pfuzylogic · M
Forgave my Dad in the early 80s.
It is let to remember that you need to revisit the forgiveness that took everything from you. 70x7
Nevaeh0081 · 36-40, F
@Pfuzylogic I get what you're trying to say.
Pfuzylogic · M
@Nevaeh0081
Been there done that.
I did forgive my Father multiple times and the first time opened that door.
Many Christian relatives were shocked when I did.
Anything you need explained?
TheunderdogofNY · 36-40, M
Always forgive. Not for their sake but for my own. Harboring negative feelings takes me away from my peace of mind.
Nevaeh0081 · 36-40, F
JestAJester · 31-35, M
Only those who showed remorse and regret for what they did, not just empty apologies. Very rarely does this happen.

It is very difficult, but necessary to move forward, forgiveness that is...

FloorGenAdm · 51-55, M
If it's never been up for conversation how would you even know?
WhatLifeIsFor · 41-45, M
yes but it is hard to forgive and forget
Nevaeh0081 · 36-40, F
Purplerain78 · 46-50, F
It can take time depending on the betrayal I guess.
Nevaeh0081 · 36-40, F
@Purplerain78 A very good point.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
Everyone has limitations. Even Mahatma Gandhi acknowledged this.

It's how some deal with their own limitations that the weak can "never forgive".

Please note the stress on "never". Not on always. The strong can have weaknesses. Yet the weak far, far more so.

Understanding this is actually a strength.
Patriot96 · 56-60, C
May forgive, never forget
Nevaeh0081 · 36-40, F
@Patriot96 ☝️
pdockal · 56-60, M
Yes but after penance
Nevaeh0081 · 36-40, F
@pdockal ☝️ can't forget that one
I watched a crime documentary a few years ago about a couple of high school kids that murdered a guys daughter that they'd been bullying. The facts of the case were horrific and the girl's father had no hate or animosity towards them after their conviction. He forgiven them and wished for them to find help. It was one of the few cases they actually drove me to tears. The guy was a saint. 🙏
Nevaeh0081 · 36-40, F
@Nihiless A few. I don't know how they can just do it. Where there mind and heart is. Takes a lot of strength to let that go. Pure soul.
exexec · 61-69, C
Almost always
Nevaeh0081 · 36-40, F
@exexec 💪💪💪
Torsten · 36-40, M
no i hold grudges like nothing else. I dont agree with the "weak can never forgive", to me forgiveness in a lot of cases is foolish and just opens you up again to being betrayed or whatever else
Nevaeh0081 · 36-40, F
@Torsten It takes a lot of strength to be that humble though.

Not many can forgive.

That's why only the strong in heart can do it.
ElRengo · 70-79, M
With all my respect I don´t share Gandhi´s worldview.

Regardless, I´ve forgiven some people about some stuff and never others.
So voted Yes but not Always.
Sometimes the betrayal is so heinous, that forgiving them would be akin to justifying what they did.
@Nevaeh0081 What are you some god damned 12 stepper?
Nevaeh0081 · 36-40, F
@NativePortlander1970 You're hurting, so I won't respond in kind.

But, lose some of that anger before it breaks you.
