old people and technology drive my crazy

I got my grandma a tablet for Christmas to replace her older one which has started freezing. I called her this morning and she says she ‘doesn’t know how to use it’. It uses Android OS, the same as her old one, and I set it up the same as her old one, but because the wallpaper is different and the clock widget is different apparently that means it’s a whole new system and she’s getting herself in a muddle.

Maybe I should have followed my dad’s advice and got her something else, because, as he said…: ‘She’s 88, what’s the point in getting her a new tablet. She’ll be dead before the old one completely breaks anyway’

I sometimes struggle with new technology, and I'm nowhere near 88 years of age. Much of it just isn't "user-friendly", in spite of it being advertised as such.

@Bella98 I have a 16-year old boy who helps me with some of the things I don’t understand. He should volunteer at the library or Senior citizens building to teach older people these things.
