In our house, a glass left out that long starts to taste a little different. I call the taste "dusty," and I prefer water straight out of the tap. Your conditions may be different. I often re-use a water glass, but I rinse it a bit each time.

I hope so because I make a tall glass from a 2 gal bottle of spring water each night, drink half and then drink the other half when I wake up. Not dead yet 😌
beermeplease · M
how about a beer that one has opened after coming home from a bender but then crashing out on the couch and waking up to it the next morning.....sometimes it's tempting, but ill advised
Lilymoon · F
@beermeplease yeah not sure about that one haha

I remember in my high school science class this same question came up about drinking a glass filled with water after sitting out all night.
Our science teacher conducted an experiment as we watched. He filled two glasses with water and then set them on his desk, but covered the top of one glass with a sheet of paper while leaving the other glass open to the elements.
The next day, 24 hours later, we arrived in his class to see the results of his experiment.
He took a fine pin that is used for dress making and with a pair of tweezers, he laid the pin horizontally across the water's surface on the glass which HAD been covered with paper all night.
The first thing that we all witnessed was the fine silver pin immediately sinking to the bottom of the glass as expected.
But when he took a second pin and with tweezers then laid the pin horizontally across the surface of the water in the UN-covered glass of water, the pin floated on the surface!
The reason it floated is because the pin was actually being supported on the surface of the water from fine dust particles that had settled onto the water of the uncovered glass overnight in his classroom!
Therefore, don't ever drink fluids that have sat out uncovered for any length of time, either indoors ..or outdoors especially!

That water has been recycled more times than you’d care to think about. There’s a non-zero chance that at least a few of those water molecules were once consumed and then released as waste by a dinosaur. Pretty sure it just sitting out for a few hours didn’t hurt it 😅

I have done that too many times … lol

I've been known to drink from streams as long as the water is clear.

Yes, of course. Don't believe everything the gub'ment or the news media tells you. In fact, don't believe ANYTHING the gub'ment or the news media says.

As long as there are not things floating in it.
Well actually as long as there are not things floating AND moving in it, it should be ok.
