I Dreamed That I Moved To An Old House In A Village….

Was going to repaint and fix up the house etc. the village was an amalgam of two different villages that I’ve actually lived in. A neighbor lady came to talk and was talking kindly about the children and other people living in the village. I was going to take a walk and visit with them and then I woke up feeling homesick. It felt good to be living in a village where children were outdoors laughing and playing and people were friendly and helpful.

I'm slowly looking into moving to a small town. I want to go spend a month there before deciding whether to move.

@cuddles1266 The ex and I wanted to move out to western Massachusetts for a short while. We used to go camping out there, and it was really lovely country. Then we discovered that there was no such thing as a decent pizza place, no such thing as delivery, and, possibly, ONE restaurant...🤣🤣🤣. We were too citified! And we lived in the suburbs! 🤣🤣🤣

@4meAndyou What if people learned how to cook those things so they didn’t need to order or go out to eat very often? Take turns hosting dinner and events for entertainment too

@4meAndyou we didn’t go to restaurants when we lived on the farm and we did OK

@cherokeepatti I have made my own pizza, but in those days the ex and I both had full time jobs, and could not imagine being as tired as we both were, after an hour commute, (an hour each way, there and back), and making pizza from scratch.

We used to get together with his family on major holidays, but he didn't like to socialize with anyone else...for good reason.

What I DID do was make big batches of food on the weekends. I used to make big pots of spaghetti sauce with sausages and meatballs, because that was one of his favorites, and freeze it. We used to BBQ a lot, too.

@cherokeepatti My family usually ate out now and then, when I stayed at my grandfather's farm. My grandfather really loved to go out for a big breakfast after my grandmother passed away. My mother, on the other hand, (inexplicably), absolutely LOVED cheap fast food plain hamburgers, and she would take us out for lunch and grab some of those.

Grandpa would take the whole family out for dinner to a local BBQ restaurant once a year, if my cousins were visiting from Utah, and then we always had our family picnics.

@4meAndyou we would be invited to someone’s house for a barbecue and it was a treat, or a birthday dinner, or go on a picnic at the river, ice cream socials different farmers took turns hosting them, we would have fish fries and barbecues too. We entertained ourselves back then. No good movie theaters in the county. Harvest season was good for fried chicken lunches. And there was potlucks at the church on Sunday too.

@cherokeepatti We never went to church. Five different religions in my mother's family, and she was never religious. But we would meet at the parks and have family picnics at times, usually for my grandfather's birthday, or for a small scale reunion.

@4meAndyou We went to a little church in my Grandpa’s village. People were very gentle and we knew everyone. They would help each other out when there was a need, Kind of ruined it for going to any other churches.
