When you decide to go dark, do you tell people before you do?

I've turned off my phone for a bit over a week now.

I've switched SIMs and nobody knows my current number.
I've logged out of all of my socials without a peep.

Only communication I've had is some worried emails from my father and my girlfriend and I told them to leave me alone.

I can't imagine if anyone else cared to message me on my socials since I haven't deactivated them yet, only people who know I'm in this dark place is my parents and my girlfriend.

it is not difficult to live without people. it is difficult to live without the usual level of comfort. food, warmth, security, etc.
Pushing people away when you need them the most isn't a smart move...
@HootyTheNightOwl Feels like the only move
@Samael Only you need people to keep you going at a time when you are more likely to do something you might later regret.

If I ever do that I would still tell a select circle of friends and relatives my new numbers (land-line and portable 'phones), but also, importantly, the clubs to which I belong.

Obviously too, organisations like my bank and the utility companies.

Whilst it is frankly, not necessary to have "social media" accounts, it's not possible to be a complete hermit, and if you try you could end up very lonely.
@ArishMell I already feel very lonely but that's okay. Right about the billing accounts though..

I don't do blackface.

Everyone who knows me knows that I'm not on the traditional social media's and haven't been for many years now, and that if they text me or call me there's a big chance I might not respond until hours or days later.

How can I when I don't even control it?
