Europeans,

Do you guys also have a sense of belonging? (With other europeans obviously)
Plasticbag · 100+, M
With everyone except the French yes
Matt85 · 36-40, M
@lumberjackslam Did it hurt, like more than stinging nettles?
lumberjackslam · 41-45, M
@Matt85 it was pretty bad for at least the first 24 hours
Matt85 · 36-40, M
@lumberjackslam Sounds bad
SunshineGirl · 36-40, F
Yes, proud to be european 👍
ArtieKat · M
Yes and no! I had hoped that all the acrimonious divisions over Brexit would have died down by now. Most of us in the UK who voted to leave the EU didn't intend to cease being Europeans - just getting some autonomy back from a corrupt system which favours only the gravy train bureaucrats in Brussels (or it Strasbourg this week?)....
Is this directed at people of european descent, or like geographical europeans? I'm of european descent and rep my celtic/nordic and germanic ancestry. I don't have a sense of belonging tho. I wish white people did, but we as a race have pretty much lost our way. I really admire and envy the way other races are in touch with their ways. Like, there is a way that a latino male flirst with a latina female, and norms in indian culture that direct the way two indians talk. In white culture? Nothing, it's just sorta whatever. I wish being white actually came with a sense of family like every other culture does, maybe our suicide rate wouldn't be one of the highest of all ethnic backgrounds.

@SandWitch I'm wondering how sad your Sunday night must be (assuming you're European?), to try to pick up a fight with a guy who jokingly made a reference to the Roman Empire under a post about European unity. 🤔

(hint: that's emperor Trajan)
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Girlbehindthecurtain Damn she didn't manage to see my spicy reply
Girlbehindthecurtain · 31-35, F
@Elessar send it to her.i bet she'd love it
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
In what sense? European countries are so diverse. You cross the border and you're in another culture with another language, sometimes even different architecture.. I feel at home in Central Europe/some parts of Eastern Europe but Southern Europe, Northern Europe, Western Europe is exotic to me.
Girlbehindthecurtain · 31-35, F
@CrazyMusicLover whereever i am in Europe i have a homey feeling
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@Girlbehindthecurtain And outside of Europe not?
Girlbehindthecurtain · 31-35, F
Arantxa · 18-21, F
I would trade my passport for a EU passport or EU ID card anytime
Girlbehindthecurtain · 31-35, F
@Arantxa trade for what?
Yes, certainly!
Boleuskas · M
Sometimes yes
Sunrises · 26-30, F
Not really. I got nothing to do with people from Poland, Romania, etc. Not the same culture and not the same language either.
darkmere1983 · 46-50, M
no i feel more an affinity with africans, as some of my old friends were african.
Tracos · 51-55, M
depends on who else is in the room
lumberjackslam · 41-45, M
it's an anti American conspiracy
SandWitch · 26-30, F
What you're asking about Europeans is like asking an American who lives in southern California, if she feels a sense of belonging when she travels to southern Georgia?! She may never have left her own country but she would hardly feel a sense of belonging in the American south! Even a guy from Ohio would get the same reception from his so-called 'fellow Americans' if he wandered into the American south.

Europe is no different, though Europe is a continent and the USA is a country.

Each country in Europe is as far apart from each other as are the American States from each other and many European countries are no larger in size than the average American State.

The difference is, in Europe, every country has their own distinct language whereas in the country of the USA, everyone speaks one language which is American English, which is a derivative of British English and British English is a derivative of European English from historical times.
SandWitch · 26-30, F
@Girlbehindthecurtain
Actually, it is you who doesn't understand what you are asking here. You must be American, are you?
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Girlbehindthecurtain "Sweden" in the profile, and the best example she can make is a Californian man going in Georgia (the state, not the country) and bragging about the USA size 🤣
Girlbehindthecurtain · 31-35, F
@Elessar if she was just a tiny bit less lazy and read through the comments she'd have seen i said i feel at home everywhere in europe.i have been to the middle east and that's obviously completely different.i feel that we are similar in a way
