I am very curious to what this means?

I am really not here to offend ANYONE. I’m very non judgement I am just curious so I can understand others. A friend from college uses a LGBT flag near her profile on Instagram next to her name at birth but also, she has used a DIFFERENT name to her birth name (which appears to be of feminine nature) with “she/her” next to it. Since I was in college she was always identified as female. What does this mean?

I’m not bothered it doesn’t change anything. I’m just curious as I am seeing it more in emails with people at work but don’t know how to ask them. I just want to understand what it means. So I’m not oblivious

Thanks for your understanding.
I'm sorry I can't help you. I just wouldn't know the answer to this.

here's a site explaining a bunch of different lgbt flags and their different meanings. mind you if she's your friend i'm sure she'd be fine with you just asking her yourself.

Don't even try to keep up with it. People have all these different labels and flags and even if you did bother to learn them all it would soon change anyways.

There used to be ONE flag for LGBT but now there are God knows how many for their specific invented gender, age, race, sexuality, etc.

Some of us LGBT are just trying to get by and live a normal life best we can.
@CestManan Exactly right. I just changed my status here to "Asexual" because for all intents and purposes of my SW membership my sexual preference is irrelevant. (Not ashamed, just not interested)

I’m so lucky most people I associate with are not confused about their gender or sexuality. I’ve only experienced one company using various pronouns in their email signature.

Some cis/hetero people add flags or pronouns as a gesture of solidarity.
