The Bogeyman will get you if you don't watch out

The bogeyman was on my closet door, ingrained into the wood, throughout my childhood. Staring down at me, as I slept. 🙃

He had a long flowing beard and beady eyes. And never seem very happy with me. 🫨

Eventually I got a florescent poster of a black panther to cover him. 😆



Took me forever to even find this poster. Five different search engines. It's exactly the one that I had back then however.

Good gawd, that escalated quickly.

I was fearful of having my legs exposed, but we had zero air conditioning in the houses I grew up in so during the summers I had no choice but to get over that fear.

Nowadays I’ll dangle a leg and an arm over the edge hoping whatever lives in the shadows underneath my bed takes me away…😄

It was all about camouflage and fear for me...glad I didn't know it had teeth.

I always covered up my exposed skin because I feared a bat would swoop in and bit me during the night.

Damn, and I thought I had a rough childhood.

A good movie with Boris Karloff and Peter Lorre.

And heaven forbid if one foot hung off the bed out from under the covers! 😅
