This unfortunately is because of the states rights issues.

Put things on the federal level, it will force the issue nation wide, on a great number of issues.

Yet it won't happen until feudalistic REPUBLIC-ANS get their respective heads out of where heads don't belong.

Many states would rather it be on the federal level. Yet were forced to take up the matter up themselves.

Therefore becoming a country in their own laws. Economic issues especially.

If it was up to feudalistic REPUBLIC-ANS there never would be a minimum wage at all!

This is a republic not a democracy because of the existence of STATES RIGHTS. The tenth amendment.

Remove or reword the tenth amendment first! Or continue this Republic feudal system.

This is why even abortion or gender issues have been failed through this supreme court. Because of feudalistic STATES RIGHTS!

Who wins a presidential election? The majority of the votes or individual republic's "electorial college"?

If minimum wage is raised by chance, to a fair level, it's likely to be rejected by this supreme court because of STATES RIGHTS.

Fair is not "Republic"an. It's democratic.

@DeWayfarer I'm no history scholar, but I'm pretty sure the Republican party had nothing to do with the passage of the 10th amendment. BTW, it's actually the Libertarians who want to abolish the minimum wage. Doing so would allow the market to establish fair value for labor as well as allowing unskilled workers to gain valuable skills and advance in the workforce. Or follow the lead of more liberal states and watch robots replace the unskilled worker while forcing small business owners to sell out to large corporations, who as we all know have always had the workers best interests in mind...
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@GerOttman both libertarians and republicans want to abolish the minimum wage. And why Elon musk moved from California to Texas immediately after California raised their minimum wage! Because there is no minimum wage in Texas.

Texas is a REPUBLICAN STATE who has their so called "RIGHT TO WORK" laws!

I stand by my words about States rights!

This is a REPUBLICAN supreme Court! Not a libertarian! And States rights was the reason Roe verses Wade was OVERTURNED!

Same applies to the book bans going on in certain states! The supreme court is staying out of it AND BECAUSE OF STATES RIGHTS!
GerOttman · 70-79, M
@DeWayfarer well statistics have conclusively shown that people who type in caps are always right!
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@GerOttman I emphasize because you either didn't read or didn't understand my original comment!
GerOttman · 70-79, M
@DeWayfarer do you really think that's what happened...? I read it, I understood it, I disagreed with it. I hope that was not lost on you, was It? dId you really think I completely missed you point? That would be troubling! r wuz youse jus funnin 'bout dat jawn, Yo?
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@GerOttman yes! I still think you don't understand it. Because you don't understand the reason for many of the supreme courts judgements since it became a Republican supreme court.

Your fighting even this Republican supreme Courts judgments.
GerOttman · 70-79, M
@DeWayfarer calling the supreme court "republican" is stretching truth beyond it's natural limits. State rights recognized in the 10th are a feature not a bug! for the record I also support the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th, as well as 8, 9, &10. Three and 7 don't come up much, but I suppose. the 14th is tricky!
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@GerOttman no it's not stretching it, because there has always been two different interpretations of the constitution. Even during the civil war.

The letter of the law has been a age old conservative stance as to the "spirit of the law" liberal stance.

The Republican supreme court is the majority. And often there have been many " descents" by liberal justice.

The majority stance always wins! Letter of the law or spirit of the law!

It's not a bug it's, a travesty. A means of overcoming democracy! And why this government isn't even vaguely a Democracy!

Not once does the constitution mention even the prefix "demo". Yet it does mention Republic once!

I bring back again, this more a Republic! Not a democracy in most of the Constitution.
GerOttman · 70-79, M
@DeWayfarer well that's a lot of words there and I'm sure you believe every one of them, but as noted previously, I still disagree in a most strenuous manner, all of it! poppycock and rubbish I say sir! at least you stopped shouting, for that I thank you.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@GerOttman my thread! 🤷🏻‍♂️

You didn't need to come on it 🤷🏻‍♂️
GerOttman · 70-79, M
@DeWayfarer I believe that's covered under the 1st...
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M

@DeWayfarer I'm not going to read whatever that is, don't be silly! my, you're a real fireplug tonight... Fascinating.

DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@GerOttman nope I am just defending my "thread"! You are the one being "argumentive" as that Link, by the admin, mentions!
GerOttman · 70-79, M
@DeWayfarer not at all, I'm just defending my country, my republic, and both of our rights! God (of your choice) bless America! If you don't want to argue then piss off or call the internet police. you've become a bothersome pest and I'll be done with you in any event. Good day sir!
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@GerOttman your rights are meaningless when States rights take precedence!

And that is the crux of United States problems!

Stay off my comment threads then! 🤷🏻‍♂️

You're paying in "reputation" points anytime you argue!
@DeWayfarer So you would oppose a national abortion ban because of states rights?
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@LeopoldBloom it's not just one reason. That's just the most recent obvious one of many reasons!

The gay marriage issues, the very marriage issue as a whole! You know there's still forced marriage through common law marriage on many states books? Same for under the age 18 marriage! And the age varies as young as 14.

The book ban issues. The prohibition issues like marijuana laws. The education issues is a States rights issue! And now some states want the work-age for minors to be lowered!

It's not going to end until they remove States rights and set a standard nationwide that can't be overturned.

States rights needs to at least be reworded to allow federal law to take precedence and not be overruled by the supreme Court!

By federal law marriage is at 18 yet can be overruled by state law! Same is happening on marijuana laws and minimum wage laws!

It's wrong no matter what your stance is on any of those issues!

Let "we the people" decide as a whole country! Not individual states taking precedence.

Put these issues up to the people! Not even Congress should be involved much less the supreme court.

Sarcasm:
"Oh you can't have average people making their own decisions can you? That would be chaos! How unrepublic like! How unaristocratic like! "

How democratic like!

So called Democrats are just as guilty as Republicans on this! They are both apart of the whole wrong Republic system!

There needs to be more flexibility! Not letting the aristocrats to control the whole country.

Now there's only aristocratic Democrats and aristocratic Republicans fighting each other as well as fighting themselves!

Don't tell me the Republican party isn't fighting itself on these very States rights issues!

No two Republican states have even the same laws!
@DeWayfarer Oh look, a dumb as a dog dipshit dems that failed high school economics 101 and high school civics 101.
@DeWayfarer No shit Sherlock.

@NativePortlander1970 the whole society is wrong! So how can anything based on it be right? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Fix the darn social system!

They are only supporting the aristocracy!

And that's including Democrats!
@DeWayfarer Where the fuck have you been, uranus?
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@NativePortlander1970 observing right here on this site. That's all it takes. The observation that few want to do!

Are you not fighting each other? Including Republicans against Republicans and Democrats against Democrats?! 🤷🏻‍♂️

You're tearing ting the whole country apart!
@DeWayfarer No, it's fucking idiots like you that believe the bullshit koolaid, who thinks the establishment is their protector, when all the do is use you all like mindless drones.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@NativePortlander1970 now who is refusing to just observe! Not even recognizeing everyone at each other's throats! Wolves against the wolverines! And even against their own kind.
