Riddle Me This. #6

[c=002673]I am a theory shrouded in [/c][c=003BB2]mystery [/c][c=004A59]and[/c][c=002673] doubt,[/c]
[c=005E2F]Believed by some, [/c][c=1F5E00]while others cast me out. [/c]
[c=1F5E00]I'm not a science, [/c][c=005E2F]but a practice that claims,[/c]
[c=800000]To harness the power of the mind and its aims.
[/c]
[c=665D00]In the mid 1900s, [/c][c=A69800]I was born in the minds,[/c]
[c=4C0073]Of mages and mystics,[/c] [c=7700B2]who sought to unwind
[/c][c=800055]The secrets of the universe and its ways,[/c]
[c=BF0000]By tapping into its rhythms, and its numerous displays.[/c]

[c=005E2F]I'm not for everyone,[/c] [c=009E4F]as many will scoff,
[/c][c=004A59]At the notion of using their thoughts to take off,[/c]
[c=7700B2]Into the unknown,[/c] [c=4C0073]and the mystical realms,[/c]
[c=800000]Where changes can happen, at the flick of a helm.[/c]

[big][c=4C0073]What Concept Am I?[/c][/big]

The answer was chaos magic, a popular theory which was coined in the 1970s. They believe that power comes purely from belief, so they can mix and match practices from all religions and beliefs into their daily lives as they wish.

It's a very vague concept.

@DrRiddler probably vague because it doesn't work lol but thanks for educating me, I'd never heard of that before 😊
@Patientlywaiting I thought it was fairly an interesting idea, especially when you have people of various religions and beliefs claiming that prayers and the like work for them yet all from different walks of life.

@DrRiddler A popular theory, yet a very vague concept... I think you might be right there; I'd never heard of it. I shall find out more.

@DrRiddler Magicians?
@Queendragonfly
Magicians are a worthy guess, I must say,
But the practice I seek is different in every way.
It's not as widely known, that much is true,
But those who practice it, swear by its value.

It draws from many traditions, and it's unique,
A blend of old and new, with a modern mystique.
It's a practice of magic, but not as you know,
With no set rules or dogma for you to follow.

The practice I seek is not as widely known,
As some of its counterparts, to it not many are prone.
But it's a practice that's used by all, in a sense,
And its influence is felt far and wide, immense.

It's late here now, so I'm off to sleep,
Maybe tomorrow an answer will seep.

[c=1F5E00]Spells and incantations that I might have,
But the name of the practice is what I ask.[/c]
[c=359E00]It's not just about magic, but a specific kind,
So keep searching and the answer you will find.[/c]

@DrRiddler Divination, or necromancy?
Dv8rs · 18-21, F
@DrRiddler I give up, all my mind is allowing me to think at this point is Lucky Charms, and psilocybin, and I know those aren't the answer. Damn, good riddle, it has me stumped.

A lot happened in late 1900
The industrial revolution
And inventions of hundreds.

Is the practice you seek
a politic belief?
[c=1F5E00]The practice you seek is not political in nature,
But rather a form of magic with a unique feature.
It emerged in the late 1900s, as you say,
A blend of traditions, with a new kind of sway.[/c]
[c=005E2F]
It's not about machines, or the Industrial Revolution,
But rather the power of the mind and its evolution.
Spells and incantations are part of the game,
But the focus is on results, and the practitioner's aim.[/c]
