Riddle Me This. #6

I am a theory shrouded in mystery and doubt,
Believed by some, while others cast me out.
I'm not a science, but a practice that claims,
To harness the power of the mind and its aims.

In the mid 1900s, I was born in the minds,
Of mages and mystics, who sought to unwind
The secrets of the universe and its ways,
By tapping into its rhythms, and its numerous displays.

I'm not for everyone, as many will scoff,
At the notion of using their thoughts to take off,
Into the unknown, and the mystical realms,
Where changes can happen, at the flick of a helm.

Yoga!

...mages/Sages?
@Lyfis2live
Mages and sages, you have named,
But a specific practice is what's aimed.

Think beyond the general term,
For the answer, you must discern.
@DrRiddler I, rather, wait for other comments to reach the mystery untold

Some days are Not to knock on the mind's twists & turns manifold.

@Lyfis2live I was on that thread too but Yoga has existed since 2700 BC
Meditation too appearantly.

1900 is very specific 🤔
To all, I must apologize for my mistake,
The date I gave was incorrect, and that's no fake.

I spoke of the early 1900s with no reason,
When in fact, the late century was the magical season.

A new practice emerged with unique ways,
That challenged tradition, and led to new magical craze.

@DrRiddler I've got it, maybe? Black magic, occult, Satanism
Your guess is intriguing, but not quite right,
It's not about darkness, but a different light.
Think outside the box, explore the unknown,
For the answer lies in a realm all its own.
This practice of magic, with no rules or creed,
A product of the times, where freedom was in need.
A blend of traditions, both new and old,
It draws from religions, or so we're told.

From Tantra to Thelema, and everything in between,
The influences are many, yet the practice is lean.
It's not about belief, but about what works,
And practitioners are free to mix and match, like chefs with quirks.

It's a practice that's fluid, always evolving,
And the focus is on results, not just problem-solving.
In the realm of magic, it's a new kind of breed,
With no limits, no borders, no written creed.

What practice am I talking about, do you know?
The answer's been hinted, but still doesn't show.

@DrRiddler Tarot reading
@Queendragonfly
While tarot reading can be part of the mix,
The practice I seek is much more complex.
It draws from many traditions, old and new,
And its practitioners are known for being quite few.

It's not just about divination or the cards,
But rather a practice that goes beyond the stars.
With no set rules or doctrine to abide,
Its practitioners have the freedom to decide

@DrRiddler Dream interpretation?
@Queendragonfly That's just another divination.

@DrRiddler Magicians?
@Queendragonfly
Magicians are a worthy guess, I must say,
But the practice I seek is different in every way.
It's not as widely known, that much is true,
But those who practice it, swear by its value.

It draws from many traditions, and it's unique,
A blend of old and new, with a modern mystique.
It's a practice of magic, but not as you know,
With no set rules or dogma for you to follow.

The practice I seek is not as widely known,
As some of its counterparts, to it not many are prone.
But it's a practice that's used by all, in a sense,
And its influence is felt far and wide, immense.

It's late here now, so I'm off to sleep,
Maybe tomorrow an answer will seep.
