Why am I so easily dismissed?

People wonder why I have no self esteem. Well maybe because my entire life, people have been ignoring me, neglecting me, and generally dismissing everything I think, do, or say.

I was treated like my existence was an unwelcome burden. Any talent I may have shown was laughed at. Any endeavor I showed interest in was ridiculed. Any fun attempt I made to be pretty or creative was roasted. I was treated like garbage.

So don't be confused when I'm 46 and still feel like that abused child. That shit doesn't just disappear after you reach a certain age.

Dear Ambellina, that may have been your past. However, you are deserving of 100% love just like anyone else. You certainly are lovable. So yes, time to shed all those echos of the past where people only disregarded you. You are worthy. You are important to the universe and beyond. And you are love.

I don't dismiss you. You're cool imo
Why not start making the changes to your body that you wanted to make. No matter what people say about that; if you put in the effort and stay consistent, your body will change no matter what people say. Don't let them take that power away from you. It's a good place to start building some confidence.

You need to quit judging yourself through other people. I’ve witnessed enough here that proves to me you have a lot to offer. The people that dismiss, neglect and ignore you, it’s their loss.

We have to learn to stop dismissing ourselves too. Perhaps you do that?
Nearly all our behaviours are learned patterns.
'We can't get out of jail unless we realise that we are in jail'..mentally speaking.
Sadly many folk don't know they are..it sounds like you just need to find the door that lets you out.

You might’ve been surrounded by narcissists, they have that effect on people. They will never uplift you in a genuine way.

@Younameit my entire maternal side of the family were narcissistic. That's not me throwing the term around loosely, they were all 💯 selfish and manipulative.
My only purpose in the family group was the scapegoat, anything bad happened I was to blame. For some reason I have no urge to be part of that family unit ever again
@Chern0bylplaygr0unds step child wishes he was at least the bronze child. When all is going well gets to be the ignored child, and as soon as anyone does anything wrong gets reminded they're just always going to be the scapegoat to blame even if they weren't there
@Justafantasy yup ...I have learned that I don't need to spend too much time with certain people in my family ...I don't need to be around people who treat me like crap
@Chern0bylplaygr0unds I was brought up with "everyone's equal" just everyone else is more equal than you

You could just pretend to have self-esteem. Most people who seem to have it are faking it.
