If you have fairly good self esteem...

How does that feel , day to day?

Do you think about your positive traits and remind yourself of them, or give yourself compassion in positive or negative moments?
Do you speak up for yourself ?

These are only a few scenarios I'm thinking go with liking oneself. I have not felt I even had a self for years, so I'm trying to learn what real self esteem looks like.

After chatting with you for over a decade, I can definitely say you have a unique personality, and a self!

It is a good one.

As for me, I just feel, "I am what I am." And as I've aged, I've stopped caring too much about what others think about me, or what I think about others.

I almost died in 2023. That changed my outlook. I realized I was dependent on others, so it was easier to ask for help after. Also, I realized some things really did not matter, so I've lightened up. Also, being closer to retirement helps. After I retire I do not need to care about anything but paying bills and taxes, and grocery shopping. I should hire a maid.

@JoyfulSilence I'm trying to adopt that motto too, I am what I am. I remember a woman here years ago said, Say to yourself about dating, "I have these issues (panic, not traveling, etc) and someone will need to accept them , that's all there is to it. Because I have accepted them"
Ty for your words Joyful ✨

@Baybreeze

I just want to imitate Popeye. 😜

Without the spinach. Yet seriously, I should eat more.

In the Bible, Moses asks God who he is. God says something like, "I am that 'I am'." Perhaps not the same but I cannot help but think God was like Popeye, "l am what I am."

As in, I will do what I want, take it or leave it. 🤪
