I felt that for an extended period of time. My solution was to "back up" to the last childhood memories I felt represented me, as I am, before anything corrupted my original settings. I spent lots of little moments in between a normal day immersing myself in that. I'd find what was joyful, exciting, puzzling and hopeful there. Once I found how to reach inside like that, I could access it more and more quickly, which made it possible to recover myself simply by blinking. Eventually, the numbness subsided, despite the immediate situation remaining unchanged. I'm not sure this would work for everyone, but that's what I did.

Emotionless, except for sadness or anger, or sadness that looks like anger but really isn't anger. Cant react to things. Too much sound.
Beatbox34 · 31-35, M
@Paperhearts I genuinely understand how you feel.
Paperhearts · 61-69, F
@Beatbox34 and likewise.

Yes. Sometimes I feel like I’m in the backseat trying to drive my body through a situation
Beatbox34 · 31-35, M
@WaryWitchWandering That's how I feel now. It's like on autopilot. I can't feel anything.
WaryWitchWandering · 36-40, F
@Beatbox34 sorry. I’m not a fan of the feeling :/
QueenOfTheNerds · 41-45, F
Absolutely. Like the feelings just graze the surface, and don’t penetrate.

Yes. Dissociated.

@SW-User Its like a human truth aha moment like we see we are elements and concessions and choices, and if that is ego, no wonder it can breakdown so easily...
and the rest is shadowplay,
thats exactly how stress does that to me
makes it all unreal literally, everything even me!

Yeah sometimes. I feel like that when I'm in a rut.

Think about moving out of that apartment and find a place that allows dogs. You need a pet in your life.

I prefer to tell myself it's purely preoccupation....
Especially when I am hungry.
yes. or you just want them to stop talking.
Beatbox34 · 31-35, M
@deathfairy This is best part. Everything they said could hurt me but I couldn't feel anything. I normally would get hurt but it didn't hurt me anymore.
