Ever felt so empty

Like the other person is talking. They still talk. You can't process anything. Nothing seems relevant anymore. Everything seems like it's passing by. I'm not drunk or high but it feels like I am.

I felt that for an extended period of time. My solution was to "back up" to the last childhood memories I felt represented me, as I am, before anything corrupted my original settings. I spent lots of little moments in between a normal day immersing myself in that. I'd find what was joyful, exciting, puzzling and hopeful there. Once I found how to reach inside like that, I could access it more and more quickly, which made it possible to recover myself simply by blinking. Eventually, the numbness subsided, despite the immediate situation remaining unchanged. I'm not sure this would work for everyone, but that's what I did.
