I Am Afraid of Failure

Failure is one of my fears that has followed me since I was a little girl. At a young age I was diagnosed with a learning disability, meaning that when it came to learning I was rather slow and always needed to repeat the content or have it be taught in a manner that I could remember. Because of this disability and the pressure of others not believing that I was going to have a success career, I worked my butt off day and night. I did it for years to the point where I was always worried about failing or making others doubt my abilities to get good grades in school. Even today the thought of failing bothers me but I shake it off and simply pump myself up to succeed, because I know I can do anything and only achieve one task at a time! Living in a world where most people don't believe in you can be scary, but with your strength and the right support, you can overcome anything with grace.

You've got a great attitude. This will take you very far too. Also, you are not alone with this feeling. While I've never been diagnosed as your were ... I could have just as well written your story. Additional good news will come as you move into the working adult world because you'll have a core group of supportive friends - all of whom won't know of your childhood struggle- just your adult struggles (of which you'll be rich with peers). It appears support has lacking for you ... and this will change for the better. Just move toward the supportive.

Never fear failure ... If you're not failing is because you're not trying anything new... Just repeating what you already know ... I think Lincoln ran for government three times before he was elected .. and we all know how that turned out!
