I Need Motivation

I really need to lose the weight this time. I need to stay diligent. I need to be dedicated and focused. I'm tired of giving up.

I remember I was still in my teens when my father decided he just had to lose weight. He had to go on active duty, and he was getting too fat for his uniform.

My mother owned a cookbook at that time, (which she never used). It had been rotting on the shelf ever since I could remember, but when I volunteered to cook for my father she said she would wash the dishes, and she showed me the cookbook.

I remember that the woman who wrote the cookbook said that in order to lose weight she had to GO into the kitchen and really start cooking. She developed ways of making all her favorite dishes but took the calories and fat out of it.

I was impressed by that philosophy, and you might enjoy some of the dishes she developed. Her name was Barbara Gibbons. She wrote The Slim Gourmet and the International Slim Gourmet. My mother's copy was stolen by a Minister's wife with whom I used to work, so I know first hand they are still available on Ebay.

@AlienPrincess You are welcome! I am re-learning healthier cooking after a long hiatus, and I will try to post my dinners for you, if they come out well. I just posted tonight's dinner as a story. ☺️

@AlienPrincess Oh...and I almost forgot to tell you...one of Barbara Gibbons favorite tricks was to start every meal with a bowl of consomme soup. You had a choice of mushroom slices or green onion slices. There were some foods she considered unlimited, like the mushrooms.

You have to want it more than you want other things.

Start low and go slow. A couple changes here or there. Nothing too drastic. Try doing just 15 minutes of intentional movement (stretching is a great place to start) and count your calories. Maybe replace drinks like soda and juice that contain calories and substitute low or no calorie drinks.

@Doomflower I don't drink juice or soda all I drink is water and if I have a craving for soda I only drink ginger ale. I totally agree with you my problem is just emotionally eating and its hard because I have an anxiety and stress disorder but im learning to channel it more into art instead of eating

@AlienPrincess I feel you because I am just the same!!! I found a lot of joy in coloring, drawing, folding origami, and juggling as all great ways to keep busy. Also video games but I hate sitting for too long.

Sweety it's not your fault your just doing what helps you feel better . I know it's hard to deal with your emotions sometimes but if you keep blocking those urges your going to get really stressed out .
