If the majority of our time is spent looking at others, worrying, analyzing and policing their behavior, we will have little time for self awareness and improvement. Our own motivations/behavior. Or even projecting our faults onto others. We NEVER change or fix anything by concentrating on others (perceived) issues. Focusing there doesn't strengthen our own mental or emotional maturity and intelligence, it weakens it.

@Ferric67 She’s made a fool out of herself at the last two city council meetings. I just sat there and cringed. I don’t know what they are going to do if she shows up next week. It doesn’t look good for this city. Every minute was cringe.
