Question about putting a picture on here

If you have a picture that is upright in your picture folder why would it turn out sideways on here? How can you fix that?

Mine do that too. I use an iPad mini. I have figured out if I do a screen shot of the photo and post that, it comes out right.

I use and iPad too.
