I've heard sprinkling "Seasoning Salt" around the yard and bushes keeps cats away and it's harmless to them. The Seasoning Salt just makes them sneeze so they just end up going somewhere else and away from your yard.

there is a repellent at home depot - it makes the cats have to urinate when they contact it- it is not supposed to hurt them. but make them uncomfortable and go away - my friend tried it once and it seemed to work

Stray Cats? 3 of them? Are you sure they are not the rock-a-billy band from the 80's?

Cayenne pepper. Sprinkle a hefty amount around where they come over the fence or where they generally pass through. They will snuff it up and get the hot pepper in their nose. One time and they wont be back. It does no damage but they really won't like the memory of the incident.
I have done this with great effect.

Did anyone suggest calling your local animal control yet? That's the best solution. :)
