Could I take my Sim card out of my phone, use my existing phone data plan as is, then pop it in this thing and use WiFi?

I don't think you would need to take out your simcard. It would act as it's own Wi-Fi and be able to power more devices with a stronger signal. I think you could jus add it to your plan.

Well that's the thing, we can't afford anymore so I was hoping we could get this instead and pop in the Sim so it won't overwork and brake my phone again to keep using mobile WiFi hotspot
