I found a debit/credit card at my apartment...

What should I do FIRST?

Since it was found at my apartment, should I contact the apartment first and ask if the person lives there

OR

call the number on the back and report it lost?

I was wanting to report it lost first, in case the apartment workers don't do the right thing (such as keep it and try to get money off).

Edited to add more details: the card was not issued in my state, I googled it since I didn't recognize the name. Or else I would have taken it to the credit union it came from.

Just cut it up/shred and toss it.... the person that lost it already reported it and the best about it...is that you just took care of the fraud

Yes just call the credit union and report it lost so that they can cancel the card.

i would cut it up and toss it, if you use it you could be charged with fraud

@iamnikki was just saying not to, was all
Call and report it lost. I did that when I went on a bus trip and found someone's card as I was disembarking.

Mail it to the financial institution that issued it with a note saying you found it

Bring it to the bank it's from
