Arash Dibazar: Don’t Let People’s Perception Of You Dictate Your Behaviour

"You don't get to decide the standard for other people."

Even though I think he was a bit hyperbolic when using examples of what people shouldn't decide for you especially in the beginning, I do agree that there's a sort of Stockholm syndrome when it comes to culture, where people expect you to obey by their standards and not your own. I think this was a great video.

Under the video description:

It is easy to let what other people think to dictate your behaviour. But, the truth is, for you and those around you, you must learn how not be influenced by them in this way.

One thing you need to know is that it all boils down to the kind of mindset you have. If you have a great mindset and practice positive thinking, it becomes hard for people to influence your behaviour. Even though, you get more motivation as you work towards personal development, growth, and self improvement.

The way you behave today should not be a reflection of who you were in the past. You can change your behaviour tomorrow, so don’t let another person’s perception of you dictate how your life turns out.

Be the person that you want to be seen as. If people see that you are not easily influenced, it puts you on a pedestal - this highly influences your self confidence and self esteem.

Don't let people's perceptions of you dictate your behaviour. Behaving in a way that is consistent with how they see the world will only make things worse for yourself, so try to be as true and honest.

Letting people influence your behavior will just attract more negative energy and turn into an even larger problem along the way. We need to separate perception from reality, stop comparing yourself to others, and not let others change our behaviour.
