What is the best way to break up with someone?

Please be serious. No jokes.

We have not been dating long, but we have revealed a lot of secrets to each other and so I think he feels very close to me and might already be in love with me.

Also it is a long distance relationship, so I will have to do it on the phone.

What should I say?

I have had to break up with a lot of different people, and it sucks no matter what you do. Believe me. The trying to make them hate you approach is the worst, imo. It helps neither of you, and costs you a possible friend. Be kind, but be aware that you will probably both still feel awful. There really isn't a way around that.
