How do I improve my social awkwardness?

I can hold down conversations with people and so on. I don't feel any conscious fear of social interaction but I am always aware of my conversational clumsiness. I end up half-offending people by accident and a lot of people I work with just do not 'get' me.
In addition, I am pretty shy around women. Had girlfriends before and even been married but I sometimes turn into a thirty something teenager when in the presence of someone pretty.

Any advice?
You need to love and accept yourself for who you are first then everything else will fall into place. Feel confident about you and then work on the other stuff.

I can relate, been like you are. Just don't think too much. Be yourself and do not try so hard. Be your natural self.
I wanted to write the same as you :)
HMMM... Nope; can't give you the answer. I'm the same damn way. I can tell you this though. As a public performer life is a stage. You're always on. Watch the Jerry Seinfeld DVD "The Comedian" and notice how the pros in stand up conduct themselves in small clubs. It could give you some tips.
