Don't know what to do? At our wits end?

My brother, who is 40-odd has got Paranoid Schzophrenia. The worse it's been is the last three years. We've had to repeatedly get the police involved, because he's not took hos medication, therefore leading him to be aggressive towards me and my mother.

This year is the fourth year, and he seems to be getting worse. This past week, he's had £30+ from my mum. I know people will say: "Stop giving him money." It's not as simple as that. If he doesn't get it, he refuses to go until he does. If we call the police, he asks later on in the day or the day after.

What happened tonight is the last straw for me and my mum. He came up our house at 8PM, wanting to stay at ours. He also wanted the taxi paying for him.

Just this night alone, he's had £15 from both me and my mum. He came our house screaming and shouting, and we can't deal with it anymore. We've told his nurse, crisis team, etc but nothing's been done. What else can we do?

There's really only one thing left to do - cut bait.

Say good-bye and quit interacting with him. He maybe doesn't deserve the ills brought upon him, but that doesn't mean you and your mother do. Won't medicate or observe the advice/help from the professionals, what are you supposed to do?

We do but he still comes up and asks. It's all me me me with him. I thought about a restraining order but it's £200 and we can't afford that right now. I've thought about moving house, but we can't afford that either. Just feel so helpless

Wow - that's a really expensive restraining order. Justice is only for the fiscally affluent?

Can you talk him into going to a hospital?

He has a personal nurse?

Yes

I don't know what else to offer as advice. I'm sorry you are dealing with that. I have had more than one person in my life who I cared about very much with schizophrenia, and I know how difficult it can be to deal with.

Sounds like you need an injunction or restraining order to keep him away from the house..
