What do you do after 3 months of talking with someone you come to find out they weren't the person in the picture and they played and scammed you i

I was scammed and taken for by someone who used a picture of someone else and now I am devastated and hurt, and feel like such an idiot

Next time .. try and google some of the picturess people send to you or use in thier profile pictures..It's easy to spot a catfish..

This pets had tons of pictures of the same guy where and how he got them I have no idea, but he sure was convincing and now I feel so lost and hurt cuz I was under the false impression that I was talking to someone real and they made me feel so good now I'm at a loss and don't know what to do now

@Quietbeauty: The first thing to do.. Don't feel sorry about yourself.. See this as a lesson.. we all end up making mistakes or regret doing certain things the way we do it.. Try to learn from this experience and hopefully the next time you end up in a situation like this you'd know what to do.

Also to find out if someone is trying to catfish you.. Pay attention to the little details.. Does the person tend to lie easily? Try voice chatting.. Even try to get them to use thier cam or w/e..

Don't easily let yourself be fooled by a picture and a few good lines..

Google image search is your best friend here. It doesn't always work if the pic is altered.. but it does work a good bit of the time.

I don't know which is sadder. The fact this is needed or that I didn't know it was a thing lol
@TGray42: LOL. I know what you mean.

Im sorry, this must be tough on you. But Im glad you found out now than later. Take this as lesson.

You learn your lesson and don't be too hard on yourself.

Some really desperate peeps in the world...

I've been there too. You're not alone. Mine went on for six months and yes I feel like an idiot. Very angry too. But I moved on. Learned about tin-eye and I make them prove to me that they are real.
I have them hold their hand against their face ring finger bent down. You can't find that on the Internet.

Yes, this kind of thing does happen on the Internet.

Read this story: "The Life and Death of Jesse James" by Josh Olson in the LA Weekly.

Maybe it will make you feel better. It can hardly get any worse than that.

Next time ask them to take a picture of themselves holding your name/ username up. If they say no, then cut them off? If something sounds even a little suspicious, it probably is.

You remind me of someone on EP. But he/she took the positive side of it and (I think) is still friends with that other person.

I use Tineye or google to check pics out.

I've been scammed even with a "real" pic...you live and learn...after this you won't be scammed again I'm sure.

I'd ask what the hell is wrong with ppl but that's a dumb question in itself. Block that person and move on. They are not healthy.

Quietbeauty · 41-45, F
Over the chat messaging kik
Bellabong · F
@Quietbeauty: they can still go about lying on the phone. Skype or video chat next time, maybe? 3 months is quite a long time
Ballora · 26-30, F
Only thing 2 do now is move forward and use caution when talkin 2 ppl online.
PTCdresser57 · 61-69, M
