A close friend of mine has started believing that if she gives up food and meditates God will support her life and she would become enlightened. She isn't having anything since two days.
That is an extreme, if that is what she feels like doing. Tell her that there is no specific path for enlightenment and such extremes will only harm her body if she is using it as a way to escape from her problems. I've tried extremes and running away from problems too and it doesn't work, what works is facing everything, whether they are problems, feelings or other people.. Personally, i feel devotion and surrender is a beautiful way. Fasting will affect her body more, but with devotion it will affect her heart and her whole being. Suggest that too her, but dont try to force her out of it coz she will only do it more. Let her do it for sometime and suggest her this also, let her change her mind on her own.

Your friend needs professional help, especially if she is giving away their money.
@Laifu1: She isn't acting rationally even now. She believes she is right and the belief is way too strong to be shaken by words.

that's just silly and well.. silly on so many levels.. i urge you to convince her cause i just read a news article the other day and it just shows how wrong this is -
@slytherinslut8: Yeah. Shes way deep into it. I am considering learning hypnotism myself to bring her out. She wont go to any professional therapist on her own.
She won't hear a supernatural agent. The hunger and thirst and meditating will put her in an altered mental state though. 2 days won't kill her but she should drink some water soon.
People do cleanse their bodies but sounds like her heart is on the right place, but her mind isn't. She needs to eat for strength and nourishment. God already made the ultimate sacrifice for us. It's not what she can do for God, but what He has already done for her. If she thinks she has to starve for God's approval, she's very mislead.
