How to know if coworker is flirting with you?

So my coworker that I rarely see, took it upon himself to ask me about things that we had discussed in the past, asking me what I do on the weekend, what part of town I live in and in the course of conversation he let it be known to me that he was single... how do I know if he was flirting or just making conversation ?
