Easing up on hating your less than perfect looks is a great skill to learn. And take it from an old lady, it's a necessary one. If you live long enough, you'll need a better attitude, believe me.
Here is what helped me: I started giving a little bit of money every month to a charity called Operation Smile. I highly recommend it.
Do this and you'll help some afflicted children with facial deformities to look and feel much better. If you give Operation Smile a little money, they'll send you some literature that will really put your wrinkles or your extra pounds or your imperfect nose or ears or whatever into some kind of perspective.
Now I just chuckle at my own unhappiness with my shape and my other imperfections. It seems like a very minor problem compared to kids who have trouble eating because of a cleft palate, kids who have to stay in a hut all day because they are believed to be cursed. When the poor overburdened families that love and care for them die, if they're still alive they will have to beg and sleep on the streets. For a surprisingly small amount of money, you can hand someone like that a normal life, make it possible for someone to go to school with other children, grow up and get married, get a job. You can give a child his or her life back from the facial deformity that stole it. And in the process, you can see how minor a problem not looking like a sexy arrogant movie star really is.

Thanks for taking the time to write all of that down and for your advice. Much appreciated! :)
