I am having trouble with being an INFJ.. any tips?

Being an INFJ is incredibly difficult. It is confusing not only for myself but for everyone around me, as well. What do my fellow INFJs think and how do you all cope?

It's a journey. It may sound trite, but it's the truth.. To me, there are no quick answers when it comes to being who you are and accepting who you are. I remember that learning about the INFJ personality type brought me a measure of comfort, if you can call it such, when I was barely a teenager.. it helped me reconcile my experiences of the world with those of others, which seemed so very different from mine.. Reading and exploring personality types can be helpful if used correctly--it can help us consider different ways in which others around us may see or experience the world and it can help guide our own introspection at times, too.. What I found the most striking back when I first started looking into them though, was the simple fact that it implied I wasn't completely disconnected by being who I am.. That, though the 'rarity' may often make us feel alone or misunderstood, etc., ... we aren't truly. And there is nothing "wrong" with being who we are, no matter how confusing we may be (to others or to ourselves).

At the end of the day, it may not be easy, but the struggle, the confusion, the growth that comes from it all.. it is definitely worth it. And we may be confounding to those around us at times, but there is beauty in our paradoxes :)

The Myers Briggs test is not based on any empirical testing or actual scientific research so you’d really be better off not letting that test determine who you are as person

@Effloresce Understandable stance. It is; however, based on Carl Jung's personality theory, which I quite enjoy. As a psych grad student, it is kind of imperative to understand all personality theories. You should look into some sometime. Might change your mind.

@Effloresce It would be quite difficult - impossible - to scientifically test individual's personalities. Does not mean that it should be completely disregarded. Qualitative research is still valid.

That test doesn't matter much. Just be yourself, not what category you get from a test.

Q: Was there an "A" or a "T" on the end?

If "T" please forgive that I asked! 😱

Myers-Briggs personality type. You can take the test on 16 personalities. Based on Carl Jung's personality theory @Kingfish28
