My question is about Hoarders?

My brother is a terrible hoarder.
The house he lives in is a torrid mess.
I an staying w him a few days for he had a stroke. He's recouperating yet seems to think in his own reality. He's been this way, yet gotten worse. He has debts terrible I'm at a loss here.
The house he lives in is our family house we grew up in..
It's heartbreaking 馃挃.

Any insight would be appreciated!

Probably needs to see a therapist, depends on the reason.
My fathers mother starting hoarding after her old house burnt down in a fire and you could barely move in the house from old news papers and junk. Some people do it for a sense of control I think.

My mother-in-law hoards stuff and I think it鈥檚 because it makes her feel safe to keep things she might need later. But she keeps an absurd amount of stuff and hides it in a locked room in her garage. It鈥檚 badly loaded with stuff and just a tiny little path. I have pictures of it. @Ryannnnnn

I think she鈥檚 ashamed of it. @Ryannnnnn

@Spoiledbrat Yeah it seems like it starts with something minute but at a certain point people get attached to it like it's their safety net or connection to the past etc.

I think so too. I actually find it chaotic. I personally find new strategies to organize and declutter very therapeutic. @Ryannnnnn

@Spoiledbrat Likewise, I actually find it depressing to live around, gives me a weird unease.
