@SW-User What's funny is I don't actually know french but I could understand it because I know Spanish.

@DDonde I can understand quite a lot of written Spanish because of that, but not anything anyone says.

@SW-User Same with me, in the other direction lol. I can't understand spoken French at all.

@SW-User Same here. I once taught myself to speak Spanish but could hardly understand a word when I asked directions. I almost felt like saying "How is it you can't speak your own language".🤣

@DDonde I worked on a kibbutz in Israel when I was 19 - I communicated with some of the yiddisher mommas in German and we managed to just about understand each other.

@ArtieKat That's cool. I don't know much about that language. I didn't know it was related to German.

@DDonde A lot of it is germanic in origin but doesn't always sound like modern German
