How do I go about helping a family member wth alcohol addiction

A really close family member has become a alcoholic, hes only 28 yrs old with 2 toddlers and his mum is coming to my home everyday crying for help. He grew up in a broken abusive family and has suffered all his life.

He drinks for emotional reasons and growing up with him and being so close to them I know i really need to help him in some way. Everyone else in the family has shun him and treats him like garbage because of his addiction but i know where hes coming from. Any advice please?

I see your situation and matter. I would like to provide some advice and suggestions. First, I would consider that you encourage the alcoholic family member to reach out and ask for help. Since there are young children involved, I would consider communicating with the Child Protective Services. Also to find some psychological or psychiatrical services for them and share the contact and referal information. I would also find and reach out to close friends who know him very well to assist him with getting back on his feet. I hope this helps.
