How to deal with uncooperative employees who are dismissive of your authority because of your age?

I’m 24 and a bar/club manager and there’s a few older employees here who don’t take me seriously and refuse to listen to me because they think I’m just dumb because of my age. Or they make fun of the fact that I went to college and assume that I think I’m better than them because of it. I try to be a really nice and supportive boss and I’m rather assertive but it keeps failing. I don’t want to fire them as they are really good at what they do.

@rckt148 ah I don’t walk around saying I went to college. They asked me what I did prior to the job and I told them .

@Lana24 At 17 I boarded vessels for no reason than a routine safety boarding
When I said "Skipper heave to and stand by for Coast Guard boarding "
Then I hit the deck ,
Many times I heard "Kid how old are you "?
and I repeated my request for documentation and devices I asked for
They complied ,or I ended their trip
At 21 when I was hired to train all the new Mechanics working for a major rail road ,fresh out of service ,,I still looked 17 ..
and most of the old timers too ,they all tried giving me crap ,
I did not tell them how I got the job
I asked them to show me they were more quantified to do my job ,
they weren't
thats why I was hired
I have death with this my whole life
I show them why I was hired
I have never asked anyone to do a job I won't do
I earned their respect ,,I proved I was qualities for the job
And I did it better than anyone else ,older than me or not
