I need advice from the point of view of an alcoholic.

I need to help my partner who has a drinking problem, we are on a break at the minute but we want things to work out. I'm not giving up on him. What can I do to help. I need to know from somebody who has been through this.

He knows it's a problem and he's been talking to doctors and such, I just want to do anything I can to help. He's my partner for life and I'm not giving up on him, he's never given up on me

@IrishMinx Support, don't nag. Point out milestones, not faltering steps. Let him fall; it will teach him. Be prepared to alter you life to help him avoid pitfalls. Read and learn about the disease. There's a good starter book called Almost Alcoholic.

It's your support and love he needs, the hope of a better life with you in it. And you can assure him, life absolutely does get better after alcohol.
