I need advice from the point of view of an alcoholic.

I need to help my partner who has a drinking problem, we are on a break at the minute but we want things to work out. I'm not giving up on him. What can I do to help. I need to know from somebody who has been through this.

You can only support / like going to open AA with him or try;

"Coping With an Alcoholic Spouse | Meetings: 888-425-2666 | Al-Anon ... ".

Or:
SAMHSA

What is SAMHSA’s National Helpline?
SAMHSA’s National Helpline, 1-800-662-HELP (4357),(also known as the Treatment Referral Routing Service) is a confidential, free, 24-hour-a-day, 365-day-a-year, information service, in English and Spanish, for individuals and family members facing mental and/or substance use disorders. This service provides referrals to local treatment facilities, support groups, and community-based organizations. Callers can also order free publications and other information.

If you can inform your self about this it will give you more options ...
But remember it is an addiction like any other drug , and it must be HIM that sees that and REALLY wishes to change .
You will never force the change , and some never do .
